Teacher Feature- Meet Mary

Hi! I'm Mary! I am a former DD student, a graduate of the first graduating class of DD and the daughter of one of the founders of DD! After graduating from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and completing my BFA at The New School I have returned to my roots and I am back where I belong teaching (and learning- because we never stop!) NY homeschoolers!

This is my third year officially teaching at DD. I am so excited to be teaching seven classes for the 2023/2024 school year!

  • Monday- Explorations of Nature and Play and Sing Dance Be (Ages 6-10)

  • Tuesday- History of the Western Hemisphere (Ages 7-10)

  • Thursday- Heart of Language I (Ages 7-10) and Heart of Language II (Ages 11-13)

  • Friday- Creative Writing Lab (Co- Teaching with Tinamarie) and Acting Out a Musical (Co-Teaching with Omar Camps-Kamrin (Ages 14-18)

Whether I'm teaching elementary level or high school level students, I believe in creating a learning environment that adapts to the individual and encourages all forms of learning. I am so excited to be back in the classroom- it is my favorite place to be! I am so lucky to have had Different Directions as a huge part of my growing up and I am elated that I get to continue to be part of it now.

Hope to see you all soon!
