Reading good literature gives us an example of what can be accomplished. Research skills likewise come with practice; it’s hard to recognize useful information, and hard to use it without merely copying it. Each class session will include time for working on short assignments, and getting started on longer ones. Most of our work will be on non-fiction writing (history, music, US and other cultures, for example), but we’ll do creative work also about one-quarter of the time. Grammar and style will be covered to support and enhance our creative process.
