We will incorporate repetitive movement, taking inspiration from art, media, and music, and focus on the individual's tastes, wants, and comfort. Students will have the opportunity to bring in inspiration from their life i.e. a song, a picture, a drawing, a piece of art, a concept, a color, a poem, a feeling, allowing us to explore improv structures in dance and movement. We will also make art based off of those movements. Working during the semester to create personal improv scores and motifs, gives students the confidence to do the process again on their own. The class will perform in the Different Directions Spring Performance Festival in June 2026. Dates for the performance will be announced in September.
