We will explore and analyze visual and tangible art made from ancient times (Mesopotamian, Pre-Columbian, Egyptian etc.) to modern times (Postmodernism, Contemporary Art, Pop Art etc). When we talk about art and art history we are talking about paintings and sculptures BUT also architecture, objects, performance and anything else that humans have made! The course builds toward a final project on Nick Cave's Soundsuits, tying directly into a class project where students design and build their own wearable soundsuits for a June student exhibition.
