Have you already tried it and want to expand your horizons? In this class we’ll develop some of the skills that go into creating your own music, from the fundamentals of music theory and poetry/lyric writing to basic musical composition. We’ll explore different styles and genres, as well as practice writing songs. We’ll have a great time both learning how to create as a collaborator and also individually. The class will culminate in a final project where everyone will draw on the things they have learned over the semester to write their own original song. We will take everyone where they are, and be responsive not only to where they are but also to what they like, love, and are curious about. There is a half hour break between each High School class. High School aged DD students are welcome to use the teen/teacher lounge and waiting area to eat, socialize, do home work etc. between classes. This is for high school students only. Students in the lower grade classes need to be registered in our Down Time Program or picked up immediately after their class is completed.
