Fall 2023/24 Sept. 11th, 18th, 25th Oct. 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th Nov. 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th Dec. 4th (13 Days) Fee: $455+ $25 Material fee per term Winter 2024 Jan. 8th, 22nd, 29th Feb. 5th, 12th 19th, 26th March 4th, 11th (9 days) (No Class Jan 15th Martin Luther King day) Fee: $315 + $25 Material fee per term Spring 2024 March 18th, 25th April 1st, 8th, 15th, 29th May 6th, 13th, 20th (9 days) (No Class April 22nd spring break) Fee: $315 + $25 Material fee per term Class Description: We’ll use manipulatives, puzzles, games and word problems to make math come alive! Our focus will be on making math make sense and developing intuition for numbers and other abstract ideas. For this age group, the class will focus on place value, the four operations, fractions, and geometry, approaching these topics concretely and visually in order to enable children to form concrete conceptual models of them. As enrichment, we will gently explore ideas that will serve children in their later mathematical studies. Possible topics include an introduction to algebra, the binary system, negative numbers and combinatorics.
