Service Description
Constructing buildings, roads, playgrounds, and parks can’t happen without geometry and trigonometry. Geometry was developed as, literally, the science of measuring the earth. Trigonometry means “measuring triangles” and it is used to calculate distances that would be very hard to measure with a ruler or a measuring tape. Over the course of the year, we’ll explore lines, angles, circles, polygons, area, volume, the coordinate plane, parallel lines, and the trigonometric functions. We’ll look for examples and uses outside the classroom and we’ll construct logical proofs when they are helpful. We’ll also spend time on the history of these branches of math. This class will be at a Regents’ level, and doing homework will be essential to understanding much of anything.
