Service Description

Calling all news hounds to come and join the staff of DD’s first student newspaper! Staff members will hone their knowledge of the history and fundamentals of journalism, including identifying news, interviewing, research, narrative writing style, editing, visual presentation, and layout. Analyzing real news articles, students will engage with big issues while also developing their own skills as journalists. This will be the second season of our student newspaper (The DD Compass Monthly), our monthly publications are complete with reported news, editorials, entertainment news and reviews, sports coverage, and more. The student newspaper will be an ongoing project. Eventually, interested students will have opportunities to serve as editor-in-chief, art director, section editors, and other newspaper roles. Fall 2022 Sept. 28th, Oct. 12th, 19th, 26th, Nov. 2nd, 9th, 16th, 30th, Dec. 7th, 14th (10 days) No Class Oct. 5th Yom Kippur & Nov. 23rd Thanksgiving Break Fee: $350 + $35 Material fee per term Winter 2023 Jan. 4th, 11th,18th, 25th Feb.1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd Mar. 1st, 8th (10 days) Fee: $350 + $35 Material fee per term Spring 2023 March 15th, 22nd 29th April 19th, 26th May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st No Class April 5th & 12th Spring Break Fee: $350+ $35 Material fee per term For more information and registration: follow the linkhttps://forms.gle/d3DRwvx5t5p5U9xV8 and fill out the enquiry form. There is a half hour break between each High School class. High School aged DD students are welcome to use the teen/teacher lounge and waiting area to eat, socialize, do home work etc. between classes. This is for high school students only. Students in the lower grade classes need to be registered in our Down Time Program or picked up immediately after their class is completed.
