Support for Parents
In the case of homeschooling parents, the phrase "it takes a village" can be especially true. Are you looking to expand your village? We all need a strong support system! Here are some community support groups that hold regular meetings at Different Directions.
Veteran homeschooler, Joanna Lodin, holds regular workshops and forums throughout the year on issues that concern homeschooling parents: How to get started and fill out paperwork? How to handle challenges? How to prepare for high school and beyond? Joanna’s three sons were all lifelong homeschoolers until they headed off to college and work. She shares her wealth of knowledge and wisdom with our community and connects families to the resources they need. The Fearless Homeschooling sessions are offered for free and donations are welcome. Parents Understanding Neurodiverse Kids (PUNK)
This meetup is for parents of neurodiverse children. Parents will share their joys and challenges, as well as find and share advice and support with other families. The group is lead by Rachel Lavine and meets once a month, alternating between Different Directions and The ROC. There is a $5 per family donation requested, to help cover the cost of space; however, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information about this support group and these meetups, contact Rachel Lavine by clicking the link below.
