Math Outside the Box

11:30am-1:00pm Tuesdays     Ages TBC

In this class, we will be covering Math Olympiad material. It will be a good fit for all those homeschoolers, who are interested in participating in various mathematics competitions such as American Math Contests (AMCs), Math League, Math Kangaroo, etc. This class will also be suitable for students who do not like to compete; however, they want to be challenged by non-standard math problems.

The goal of this class will be to teach students to think outside of the box and to be able to use their knowledge of mathematics in unexpected ways.

During our lessons, we will use books the Art of Problem Solving (Vol.1 and Vol.2) and will be working on many competitive problems, while learning logical reasoning, number theory, probability, combinatorics, Euclidean Geometry and much much more. Some prior knowledge of Algebra (polynomials, solutions to quadratic equations, inequalities, graphs of functions) is required for this class.
